1. At what age did you become an atheist? 25
2. What flavor of religion were you indoctrinated to believe in prior to your deconversion? church of Christ, a small conservative denomination that believes that they are not a denomination but the only true non-denominational Christians.
3. What led you to eventually reject your religious beliefs? See my signature. I went full time, two years to bible college to strengthen my faith and deepen my understanding. I found out that deep down, Christianity is rather shallow.

1. At what age did you become an atheist? 39
2. What flavor of religion were you indoctrinated to believe in prior to your deconversion? I was raised in the Catholic church from birth and we attended off and on after my mother remarried. Then around 16 I converted to a protestant. I attended a Nazarene church then later moved on to a pentacostal.
3. What led you to eventually reject your religious beliefs? When I saw people speaking in tongues in a pentacostal church I was really curious if that could be real (this was in my early 20s). Later I was assigned a book in a college class called When Time Shall Be No More. After I read this book I was severely depressed, enough that my wife had to dress me; I found out that the Book of Revelations was a fraud. Soon after this point I began to read a couple apologists' works and thought their, so called, logic was too convoluted to be taken seriously. Beginning to study the Bible critically I found errors, odd wording and flat out mistranslations. I then started reading critizisms on the Bible and about it's errors. I lost faith in the church by this process.

Maverick's Questions Let's stir up some discussion. I have a couple of questions for you to answer:
1. At what age did you become an atheist?
2. What flavor of religion were you indoctrinated to believe in prior to your deconversion?
3. What led you to eventually reject your religious beliefs?
(Added in later) 4. Where did you find out about Atheists Anonymous?
1) About 40.
2) Catholic, Baptist, Methodist (I see a pattern here)
3) Reality
4) Google
Question time: How does one live an atheist life in the closet? Nobody knows how I truly b (dis) believe.

1. At what age did you become an atheist?
I was about fourteen when I had the final "okay, I've absolutely had it with this nonsense" moment, but I'd been having serious doubts since I was about eight or nine.
2. What flavor of religion were you indoctrinated to believe in prior to your deconversion?
Cosy old Anglican Christian. I enjoyed being a choirboy so I kept going to church longer than I otherwise might have, I think.
3. What led you to eventually reject your religious beliefs?
The increasing realisation that they were a bunch of crazed, swivel-eyed nonsenses and there wasn't a single - no not one - rational reason to hold them.
4. Where did you find out about Atheists Anonymous?
Random surfing.

1. I'm actually non-religious, a technicality in "-ism" rhetoric that may or may not be clarified by the nature of my posts. And anyone who knows me will say there's never a time they've known me to be anything but a skeptic and a freethinker. My Dad told me there was no Santa at 3 before I'd even really heard about Santa. I'm sure that contributed to a lifetime of doubting faith or even opinion of any kind (which isn't to say that I didn't form my own)
2. My mother insisted on me attending Catholic mass every Sunday. It finally stopped when I left home at 18.
3. Like religious belief, my irreligious curiosity is the result of mounting rationalizations and experiences rather than any single particular moment.
4. I found Atheists Anonymous a few years ago when I was poking around on the internet. I was up early today and decided to google my screen name and that's why I'm here now.

1. At what age did you become an atheist? It was around 23 years old when I finally labeled myself as Atheist, although I started questioning religion a lot younger (around 14 years old). 2. What flavor of religion were you indoctrinated to believe in prior to your deconversion?Mormon 3. What led you to eventually reject your religious beliefs? It was a slow process where I realized that my religion was hypocritical and refused to acknowledge facts with actual proof. 4.
