1. At what age did you become an atheist? 38ish
2. What flavor of religion were you indoctrinated to believe in prior to your deconversion? Episcopalian
3. What led you to eventually reject your religious beliefs? Primarily I believe, that which eventually resolves all disputes -- time. Secondly, lack of rational evidence.
(Added in later) 4. Where did you find out about Atheists Anonymous? Web search

Hi. I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. To answer the questions:
1. I stopped actively participating in church when I was in high school, I only went because my parents said I had to, and I had some friends at the church. I stopped going when I was in college. I did not start thinking of myself as an atheist until recently. Nobody that knows me knows.
2. I was baptized and confirmed as a Presbyterian.
3. A lot of things led me to reject my religious beliefs. The final straw was a major disagreement I had with leaders in my church about certain things that were going on in the church. I finally got fed up, and wrote them a letter asking them to remove my name from the church roster.
4. I found Atheists Anonymous through a search on the internet.

1. I think that I was always an atheist. I just never bought in to any sort of religion no matter how it was presented. I began to be a little more outspoken about it when I was about fifteen.
2. My parents weren't overtly religious nor were they out right athiest. My dad was babtised catholic and my mom has always believed in some sort of "higher power" but is more or less reluctant to get into it.
3. Since I never believed in the first place I never had anything to reject. I instead went about firming up my beliefs (or lack there of) when I was in high school I went to diffrent churches and looked carefully at what other people believed really just to see what was out there.
4. After a barrage of B.S from some of the more pushy christians at work I began to feel like I needed a little outlet for my frustrations. The long and short of it is "google search".

Hi, I'm Sandy and am a first time poster here. I came from the Atheist Community forum and I'm looking to broading my interests with others of the same ilk.
I was raised by Mormon Missionaries and never bought into any of what they had to sell. I had a long talk with my grandfather (Bishop) about my lack of belief in God and he understood and gave me one piece of advice. He told me the greatest gift I could give to another was my word of honor and if I kept that clean and firm it wouldn't matter what I believed in.
I was 9 years old at the time. I've kept my promise to always mean what I say and never take an oath unless I meant it.
One of the posters at Atheist Community posted this URL and I dropped in to say hello.
I'm from the Arizona desert and it's raining and I'm in a state of shock! It's not suppose to rain in Arizona!!!

Hey..My name is Lynn and I am new to this site. 1. I have always been an atheist.
2. My parents were brought up as Catholics, and converted to atheism at young ages. They raised me to have an open mind and educated me on many religions. I chose to be an atheist. 3. I have never have had true religous beliefs to reject.

That's impressive!
Most parents don't give a choice to their children. It's good to hear that you had parents that would accept you no matter what.

hey, Yeah, I am pretty fortunate to have parents that allow me to be who I want to be. Sometimes I think. would I have been smart/bold enough to think the way I do now, if I was brought up to be Catholic or any other religion.

I became atheist at the tender age of seven I was baptised into the greek athoudox church before my first birthday Ha yes the story of the great flood you know the one noah and the ark and the rainbow thingy? i asked my dad if the story was true he read the story and gave me a bible and an encyclopedia telling me to choose what i thought was right. Issac Newton made more sence to me than a covernant with an obnipotant being . I found out about atheist anonymous thanks to my truly loveley soul mate and the sexy auntie social. modified to fix the quote flags ~AuntieSocialIssac Newton wrote more about Christian theology and the Bible than he did about science.

Im a Christian, I was a hard core junky and alcoholic. 4 years ago I was hopelessly trying to kick, I prayed to a God that I had always figured was there but was sure He detested me, I asked for Him to do for me what I couldnt do for myself. and through a very wild set events , I ended up getting clean and sober. I studied mormonism, Catholisism , Jehovaswitness and Islam and im a Baptist. now I teach Sundayschool and hope to "indoctrinate' my students so that they might not go through the same hell I went through.
google search looking for some challenging conversation.
