Hi Everyone...just stumbled upon this site, read a few threads and thought they were interesting, so I signed up. I'm not atheist, but a practising Muslim...am I still welcome?

Absolutely. Welcome. This is not a site for religion-bashing. You can expect to have your views challenged, but you'll find that ad hominem attacks and bigotry are not tolerated here.

I would like to reinforce Yaw's statements. You, Muslim, are more than welcome to join our discussions. This is not an exclusionary message board. Both atheists and theists are welcome to post here.
Welcome to the board, Muslim. I look forward to reading your posts.

As was stated earlier, you are most certainly welcome to the board, Muslim. Feel free to join into any of the on-going threads, or start threads of your own if there is something you would like to discuss.
You will find that most of the atheists on this board come from a Christian back ground, but please don't let that stop you from participating. It will be interesting to get a muslim perspective on some of the issues that have arisen on the board.
If you have any questions, please feel free to PM any of the moderators/admin.
If you have any questions concerning how to post, etc, there is a tutorial on my website (see link in my signature), or you can post specific questions in the Help Forums.
Again, welcome, Muslim

Hi,
Yes, you're welcome. Sunni ( which school ) or Shiite ( 7er or 12er )?

Thank you everyone. Yes, one of the reasons I wanted to join was because I couldn't see any practising Muslims here so I thought it would give a different perspective.
I'm a Sunni Muslim...not sure what you mean about the 7er and 12er.

...not sure what you mean about the 7er and 12er. 7er and 12er are referrences to two of the major sects in the Shi'ite line of Islamic tradition. (another would be the Ismaelis (sp?) who follow the Aga Khan)

Muslim, why are you a practicing Muslim? Vertigo, because my faith demands that we act in a certain way, not only to believe and then act in any way we choose to. So I try to act in accordance with the Islamic rules.

Your faith demands it. Why do you hold that faith?

I think what vertigo is asking, Muslim, is not why you follow Islam, but why you are Muslim in the first place. Is this the religion you were born into? Did you convert to Islam? If the latter, why did you convert?
