I would like to go back to what you said about Ghandi. Ghandi was an abusive husband and father who regularly cheated on his wife, and was involved in many violent uprisings, as well as non-violent ones, all the way throughout his life. Oh and welcome.

In the end Jesus was just a man. He was a carpenter up till he decided to go become a man of God and spread the word with john the baptist. I am actualy more inclined to give buddah more appreciation. After all the historical figure of buddah did most of his stuff though his entire life. He unlike Jesus did not prey upon a already dispirited population. Remeber isreal was under the government of rome and the people on the lower sides were suffering (as every person on the lower end of the social status dose durring an occupation.) Jesus took three years and preached. Buddah took most of his life.

Well I certainly think that is not the norm. It means that she isn't afraid of coming to a different conclusion. After all, if she manages to be convinced that Christianity is wrong, in what sense is it right? She trusts her judgement, which makes her a cut above.
I think most Christians are afraid to engage an Atheist, lest their minds get corrupted. Satan's tricks, you know. If they do engage it means they are there to prove their devotion. They will take Christianity to the heathen. It is easy to tell if this is the case, because they will subtly try to undermine your stance, as Reservior Dog experienced.

Yep, I had that happen with an ex - trying to get me to come to church with her. She had the whole "...do it for me..." thing going.

It makes me both sad and annoyed just thinking about it. It reminds me why I hate religion.

How have you lucked out? Do you want to experience that, the falsity, the undermining?

Okay, I haven't heard this 'lucked out' phrase before, it sounds like 'luck ran out'. Rather say 'I got lucky' or 'I was lucky'.

My wife and I are almost identical in our quest for the right answers... and we are convinced that conventional religion and theism are not it. Peace

I was gonna reply to first post only then relised i already have replied to this...but need to say one last thing. Christ could be a "good example" but not a role model because a role modal signifies a real person and in my eyes atleast there is no proof that he existed and if he did what's to say he really wasn't a wandering weirdo that poeple just happened to listen to?
that's all, once again welcome, <3 Non
