If everyone was so incredibly stupid, what set Jesus apart from the rest of them? Was he just incredibly smart and way ahead of his time? How would you account for healings and things like that? Nothing set him apart from others,he just had the best PR. As for his healings....they are just hearsay/lies. No, he was not very smart(if he existed).I tend to go with the lunatic part of the thread title.....I bet he was miffed when he died(if he existed)

How would you account for healings and things like that? look at david blane (worlds famous magician) if he showed you a trick, you would ask, "how the hell did he do that?" does this make us stupid in comparison? and out of all the lies in the bible, do you believe that jesus healed ppl? i have heard, that in the bible, it contradicts itself, it will say one thing, and like 1000 pages later it will contradict that. by the way you are talking, it sounds like you are a theist in which case, why are you here? trying to convert us? those healings probably never existed. jesus probably took a jug of water, made everyone turn around and pulled out a jug of wine and said he made it into wine... simple magic tricks.

Well that was only in response to you saying something ignorant like "the people back then were all just stupid" or something to that degree. And yes, I am a theist. What would be the point of all of you sitting around just agreeing with each other anyways? You should be challenged... any view point should be. Anyways, just check out the Board Rules and Site Updates forum part...

EvenThen... you cease to bring up a point in all of this. Jesus probably existed... he was not the son of god, there is no god. Jesus performed mere magic tricks to fool people into thinking he was the son of god so he would be worshiped and get free stuff. (hey if i could pull that off, i would!)
NOW, i have a question for you EvenThen... you being a theist, why would you come onto a board meant for Atheists to speak their minds about what they believe... are you trying to ruin our beliefs? if so, you have failed. Also, if you come on here trying to convert us and make us believe in a god, you have failed again. I do not understand why you are present. Do you have a point to bring up in all of this? if so, say it now.

Because I enjoy debating my faith, whether I "convert" anyone or not (as you so eloquently put it). I don't need to bring up any points. Let me say again, running the risk of sounding redundant, that my comment is in regards to your rather flippant remark that people were "more stupid" back than. That's all.

old enough to realize that you didn't know that previous statement was sarcasm. (but if they were so smart, why did they die of diseases that are none existant today due to the fact we have gotten rid of them with our technology? like... small pox)
you have to admit... that if you pulled even the simplest of a magic trick (like, "i got your nose") they would actually believe, that you indeed have taken their nose off.

what do you mean what am i doing? i am trying to say that jesus performed mere magic tricks, and since people in the older days weren't as smart as we are today, fell for those tricks and believed that jesus was the son of god.
