Done, nonny ... I put the Night 1 deadline at the 8th, but that dealine is quite flexible anyway, since the following day would start as soon as you have a vote & we have a death scene ...
I will add the new deadlines as they are announced in the game.

I want to take a moment to thank AuntieSocial for keeping our calendar updated. I wish there were a way I could make this resource available to non-registered visitors.

Maverick, I realise it was a while since you posted your thanks, and I should have commented earlier. It is my pleasure! In case anyone is wondering, I am on several e-mailing lists and have also sent e-mails to the PR representatives of various groups requesting that they advise me of their upcoming events so I can add them to the calendar and/or add a thread here for those of you who may be interested. I would like to know if you guys are interested in the events I have been posting. I know that some of them may be out of your area or may be slightly costly (especially the conferences), but I wanted everyone to know that there are events happening. Sometimes you may feel that you are the only one who thinks the way you do, I want everyone to know that there are many organizations out there that are promoting secularism, humanism and the fact that there are atheists out there. If anyone knows of an event that is coming up, please let me know and I will add it to the calendar. Going forward, I will use this thread to advise you when I add a one-off event to the calendar and reserve the new threads for activist initiative. I will include the date of the event or conference in the post and you can them look at the particulars on the calendar entry. I think that will keep things a little cleaner. Of course, if everyone would still like to see a full thread with as many particulars as possible, I will continue to do things as I have been in the past. One of the downfalls to the calendar is that you can't preview and modify the posts. Clicking 'preview' posts the thread without bringing up the preview pane first. Quite annoying! Again, - If you kow of any events that I may have missed, please PM me or E-mail me.
- If you have a link to an article about an upcoming event/rally, please pass it on. You can start your own thread in this section and PM me to add the caledar entry.
- If you know of a mailing list, let me know where I can register to be included. (especially those members who are from areas other than Canada and the USA)
- If you are a member of a local organization and would like everyone on the board to know of upcoming events (in case there are others in your area), again, e-mail me the particulars, or have the individual responsible for Public Relations e-mail me.
The calendar is yours to use. As Maverick pointed out, only the Admin & Moderators can add entries. I'm more than willing to update the calendar with the events that you think are important/interesting.

New Entry to the calendar: Center For Inquiry – West4773 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90027 (323) 666-9797 An Unusual Look at the Ten Commandments Sunday, November 7, 2004 - 11:00 a.m.Many Christians consider the 10 Commandments to be the cornerstone of Western morality. Battles rage on in the U.S. over the placement of these rules on public property. But are they relevant to our 21st Century society? What are the alternatives? Center for Inquiry-West Executive Director James Underdown will take an unorthodox look at these ancient instructions, and shed a modern light on their value and relevance to our society $6.00 or free for Friends of the Center.

New Calendar Entry CFI – Metro New YorkChurch and State: Where Do We Go After Election 2004? On Thursday, November 18, 2004, Susan Jacoby, author of Freethinkers: A History of American Secularism and director of CFI-Metro New York, will examine the future of the separation of church and state in America in light of the election results. The re-election of President George W. Bush, who has consistently and forcefully advocated closer involvement between religion and government, means that advocates of secular government and reason-based public policy—regardless of our political views—face a major uphill battle in the coming years. Issues to be discussed will include the federal judiciary (especially important in light of the serious illness of Supreme Court Chief Justice William Renquist); gay rights; faith-based government programs; reproductive rights; embryonic stem cell studies; and religious interference with all scientific and medical research. This program will focus on practical steps to foster policies based on human reason and America's secular governmental traditions, as opposed to reliance on divine authority. Join us for discussion of these critical issues. The New York Academy of Sciences, 2 E. 63rd Street (between Fifth and Madison), 6:30 p.m. Question-and-answer period to follow. Admission $10.

New Calendar Entry Center for Inquiry Florida Event Title: Common Knowledge: Reconnecting Science and the Public Presenter: Austin Dacey, Ph.D., Chair of CFI - Metro New York Date: Saturday, November 20, 2004 Time: 12:30PM Location: Center for Inquiry - Florida, 5201 W. Kennedy Blvd. Suite 124, Tampa Fl 33609 ( get directions) The architects of 20th century American science policy saw that basic scientific research would require public, which is to say governmental, support. While the system they erected helped propel the country to world technological dominance, it has reached a breaking point. Science is public, yet everywhere it is challenged by the private: corporate forces move to commodify information, privatizing the global “knowledge commons.” Private conscience objects to the incursion of biomedical and neuroscience into humanity’s hidden territory: the genes, the mind, procreation. America and the world are in search of a new public philosophy of science, a new policy of public science. One key lies in recognizing science as a source of public culture. This process calls for the creation of new interdisciplinary academic institutions. Biographical information: Austin has lectured and published widely on issues at the intersection of science, religion, ethics, and society. He works for the Center for Inquiry, a think tank affiliated with the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he is a visiting assistant research professor of philosophy. He serves as director of research and education; executive editor of Philo, an academic journal specializing in philosophical naturalism; and a contributor to the magazines Skeptical Inquirer and Free Inquiry. See www.austindacey.com for more information. New Calendar Entry Center For Inquiry – West4773 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90027 (323) 666-9797 Jill Tarter: "SETI: Pulling Signals Out of Cosmic Noise"Sunday, November 21, 2004 - 11:00 a.m.Human beings have been looking skyward for thousands of years, but only recently have we been able to see planets beyond our own solar system. As more planets are added to the scores already discovered, can we help but wonder if any are inhabited by thinking beings? Indeed, how can we Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence? Dr. Jill Tarter is a Cal Berkeley-educated astronomer and the Director of the SETI Institute's Center for Research. She will be at CFI-West to bring us up-to-date about SETI and the search for life beyond planet earth. Please join us to hear about this deeply fascinating subject. From Jill Tarter: "SETI could succeed tomorrow, or it may be an endeavor for multiple generations. We are, after all, a very young technology in a very old galaxy. While our own leakage radiation continues to outshine the Sun at many frequencies, we remain detectable to others. When our use of the spectrum becomes more efficient, it will be time to consider deliberate transmissions and the really tough questions: Who will speak for Earth? What will they say? Maybe by then we will be old and wise enough to find some answers." $6.00 or free for Friends of the Center. The program will be repeated at The Costa Mesa Community Center at 4:30 pm. The Center is located at 1845 Park Avenue, Costa Mesa, California

New Celendar Entry CFI – Metro New YorkDecember 5, 2004Does Truth Matter? God, Intelligent Design, weapons of mass destruction…the postmodernist doctrine of “fairness” has created a society where all opinions are valid so as long as one expresses them in earnest. Evidence is seen as a nuisance, if not actually a hindrance, toward seeking the truth. Are truth seekers just kidding themselves when they argue that truth is still a virtue? We will explore this question from several perspectives with Paul Gross, author of Higher Superstition and Creationism’s Trojan Horse; Rutgers Professor of Psychology, Alan Gilchrist; and Michael Lynch, author of True to Life. This event will take place at 12:30 p.m. at the Morris County Library located at 30 East Hanover Avenue in Whippany, NJ. For more information, contact Barry Seidman at 973.541.0049.
