September 20, 2004 - Philadelphia Church-State Separation Activist to Debate Faith-Based Initiative
Philadelphia-Area Activist, Preserver of Church-State Separation, scheduled to Debate former White House Leader on Faith-based Initiatives
GWYNEDD, PA (PRWEB) August 29, 2004 -- Janice Rael, president of the Americans United for Separation of Church and State – Delaware Valley Chapter, will debate the Faith-Based Funding Initiative Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. The controversial "charitable choice" initiatives allow the government to fund churches and other ministries without safeguards that prevent publicly funded religious coercion and other church-state abuses. Defending the initiative is Stanley Carlton-Thies, associate director of the Cabinet Center on Affairs of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives for the White House.
