Newberg, Andrew, Euguene D'Aquili and Vince Rause Why God Won't Go Away - Brain Science and the Biology of Belief New York: Ballantine Books 2001. ISBN 0-345-44034-X Dr. Newberg conglomerates all his and his research partner's (the late Euguene D'Aquili) work in this book. The research presented is a good foot in the door towards learning the neurofunctionality of those who believe. The role of several cortical structures is examined and then gone into who these structures are implicated to produce such experiences. Focusing on research done with Buddhist meditators and Fransician Nuns, the authors help bring to light many questions, answer some but produce some more. Some items can get technical but it's mostly just basic neuroanatomy. At the end of the book, their stance takes an odd turn (possibly for economic reasons or because of D'Aquili's death) and allude to a higher force at work. Overall the book is an excellent read for the pure science in it regardless of the author's personal opinions. Having sought other research on this topic, I found it was a good introduction before getting into the more technical scientific journal articles. I highly recommend reading it. Would you say that this book mainly describes measurable correlations between mental states and physiological states?

Would you say that this book mainly describes measurable correlations between mental states and physiological states? Mental states are physiological states. There are no mental states only brain states. No mind, only electochemical brain activity, that is coming from my point of view.
