In the early days of the Atheists Anonymous chat room, we attempted to organize chat room topics. We eventually abandoned the idea because the chat room was doing very well on its own. Since the introduction of this message board, activity in the chat room has decreased.
Is there any interest in reviving organized chat sessions here at Atheists Anonymous? You may vote in the poll above but, if you can, please elaborate on your choice and make suggestions in this thread. Thanks.

I'm game for scheduled chats, though I can't think of any topics off the top of my head ... however, if we had a particular time on a weekly basis that we know there will be people in the chatroom, others may start coming in ...

I would love scheduled chats, everyone will have to pardon my horrible spelling though. We could of caurse have a get to know every one kinda thing for the first one, for people who aren't in there alot of the time. Sort of to get to know people and of caurse disscuss atheism. Just a suggestion.

Part of the reason I want to know if there is interest in scheduled chats is because we now have a calendar on this message board. AuntieSocial has been doing a great job updating the calendar with activist events and mafia deadlines. However, I would like to make further use of this feature and I would like to increase activity in our chat room. When use of our chat room peaked (most likely from November to July 2002), most chatters logged in between 7pm and 1am EST. Any suggestion on chat topics?

Yeh true i was one of those poeple, this summer the chat room was very busy, well compard to how it is now that is. And I already suggested a topic, but nobody listens to me, just kidding, anyway I still think we should do an introduction type thing for like new chatters.

Any others chat topics? I'd like to try to compile a list of topics (unless people don't think chat topics are a good idea).

If we can set up this and get some more activity back to the chat people may start coming back out of the scheduled time. Also Mav if you do have a schedule, i suggest a. posting it on the site near the chat applet, and giving several regions time zones. etc. gmt, US central, Australian EST. i know its easier to work out kiwi time off australian time, brits would be easy. that way there can be no confusion. i know i dispise working time differences out and i am use to it although its only add 5 and change the am/pm for me to america its british thats annoying Chat topics need not be set if we can get a decent enough user base back into it, but i think the Darwin idea is good for a start. any rallys or other atheist network events, possible atheist radio (if thats still running) co inciding chats
