Doesn't bother me much. I usually just reply with, "You too" or "Happy Holidays". Sometimes I reply with "Happy Festivus".

Well considering the name of the holiday is Christmas, I don't see any reason not to call it that. I don't like the word 'merry' though, it sounds funny. Of course, what does 'happy Christmas' or 'merry Christmas' even mean? When else do we wish people to be happy? We shouldn't make an exception.
I don't like to play the PC game because then we must put up with the religious PC issues, like not saying anything offensive to religious folks which is absolutely unacceptable. If the price for that is spelling Christmas the proper way, I would happily do that.

Words are just words. Names are just labels. Christmas is Christmas. Anyone who gets angry at words and labels uttrered by others needs to take responsibility for their own emotions.

i like to play the roll of the grench at work. i don't have kids so i get to say. why don't everyone just not give gifts. i also tell them to not cut on the lights "it burns oil and your just supporting the teorrists." i'm playing it makes for a good time in the office. i have even went so far as to have this troll with green frizzy hair and i always put it as the star on the tree. i tell them if you want me to contribute to this, then this is my way. they go along with it. funny i think. everyone knows that its all in fun.

I love Christmas. It's the best time of the year. People are so cheery and there's presents, and cookies, and eggnog. I get a bit irritated at the phrase "Jesus is the reason for the season" but not "Merry Christmas". It's not even about religion for most people.

it is the highest suicide rate of the year. Well. I guess it's particularly tough being depressed when everyone else is so gosh darn cheery.

I would think It would be the time after christmas and easter. All that damn candy and one would think that every dentist would be takeing a nose dive out a five story window.

I think it's because everyone hates the dentist. They see uncomfortable people every day, it must weigh on them that they are causing discomfort. Certainly if a dentist wants to feel loved, his or her work is not the place to find it.

"Christmas" is just the most common term we use today for a celebration that has been going on for a very long time; it's been going on since BCE in various cultures. It is merely a celebration of the new year. December 25th is a date chosen to represent the winter solstice which is the shortest day of the year. There are many stories of gods dying and being reborn on the winter solstice. So the term means nothing to me. It's just the modern term.
As far as what Christmas is in our modern society: it has become a very "pagan" celebration with the commercialization of merchandise. Japanese saw the potential of Christmas and adopted the celebration in their culture for more profits.

I just say happy holidays. I mean i celebrate christmas. But it's when friends tell me oh it's wonderful it's the birth of our lodr and savior i just cna't help but correct them and say....actually according to the bible jesus was born sometime in the fall such as september. And they just put christmas on dec 25 so that the pageans would become involved as well and they could get more of a following. *nods*
