You push open the large wooden door into a softly lit room. Candles surround the outer walls. As the flicking flames steady themselves from the motion of the opening door, you notice a pendulum swinging steadily from the ceiling. Carved in the stone floor is an elaborate set of measuring circles. The pendulum swings gracefully through the circles to the outermost ring and then back across to the other side.
How long has the pendulum been swinging?

If the pendulum is swinging steadily that would suggest it is getting power from somewhere that will keep it steady, therefore there is no way of knowing how long the thing has been swinging.
