As many of the regular chatters know, I just have been far too busy in recent months to log into the chat room myself. But I wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about the chat room! The following post is an attempt by me to keep updated on our chat room activity and to determine whether there is something we could do to make it more active. Our chat room has been one of the building blocks of the Atheists Anonymous website. It once was the center of all of this website's activity. But now, I get the impression that our chat has recently suffered from a decrease in use. Here are some statistics for our chat room page: Highest # of Views: 977 in September 2002 Lowest # of Views: 169 in October 2003 Between September 2002 and April 2003 the number of page views for our chat page was declining. Between May and August 2003 the number of views fluctuated. Then the number declined to our lowest number of views since the chat's first full month of use in May 2002. Though these statistics do not account for the fact that many people use an IRC client to access the chat, they do reveal a decrease of interest among those who accessed our chat via the java applet on the chat page. I was hoping that chatters who have logged into the chat room recently could give help me understand how our chat is doing beyond the statistics. How often is our chat being used? How could we go about increasing chat activity once again?

I really dont go on the chat anymore but from what i know it has been decling in popularity and the forum has jumped up. I think the chatroom needs to be better advertised...

You're right ck. The popularity of this board has greatly increased past the popularity of the chat room. Do you have any suggestions on how we could advertise the chat better?
