Carson City, NV -- In response to a threatened lawsuit, the Nevada Department of Transportation plans to remove a roadside memorial for a slain South Lake Tahoe, California girl this week.
The eight-foot-tall white cross for Krystal Steadman stands along US 50 west of Carson City where her body was found in March 2000.
A Reno lawyer has threatened to sue the state on behalf of an unnamed client who contends the cross violates the separation of church and state because it's on state land.
