I don’t know what can be shown in the day time on tv compared to the evening and night time. But I just noticed something that I don’t like. The wife was watching a soap. I noticed that it was rated “pg” why is this? If you made a movie that had the same sex and violence in it, they would rate it pg 13 at the least I would think. But because this is one of the networks cash cows they make sure it gets a lower rating so they can show it on daytime tv. Am I wrong in thinking this, or is there something to it? While I’m on the subject I think its so wrong for places like wal-mart to censer music cds while movies are not touched. Resident evil 2 which has nudity in it was sold on the psp and dvd with nothing changed in it. Why is this? Why is the spoken word so more important to censer than pictures? Money will change it all. It all comes down to money.

But because this is one of the networks cash cows they make sure it gets a lower rating so they can show it on daytime tv. Am I wrong in thinking this, or is there something to it? I thought PG13 films had to have at least one “fuck” in them (any more than one and it gets rated “R.” Figure that one out), or at least an intense level of sexuality and violence. As for soaps, I think they exist in some weird television decency-standard limbo… in that they’ve been “randy” since the 1960s. I got my degree in journalism, and actually had classes on this very thing. The types of programming aired during a typical day are based on the demographic most likely to be tuned in at a particular time. They figure kids are in school during the day, and thus the standards are lowered for that time period. You’ll notice that you don’t see soaps usually after 3 pm or so. That’s when they start drifting into some more “kid friendly” stuff (and crap talk-shows like Oprah and Dr. Phil). The “prime time” slots are filled with more family-friendly crap, getting progressively edgier later in the evening. Keep in mind these standards really only apply to broadcast networks/channels like CBS, NBC, ABC, WB, etc… Standards for cable are much more variable thanks to cable’s requirement to be subscribed to for access. You’re damn straight on the money. Perceived image has a lot to do with it as well. You get a bunch of nanny-Christian-bastards with a “save the family” mindset, have them holler so loud the media or congress hears, and *poof* scratch one more personal choice from the available options.

I personally don't think a cd or movie should be censered.....just rated better. I mean they should actually check that kids are old enough to see the movies and maybe start something similiar to cds

On the subject of censorship. It would be nice to have the games tone down the cussing. Now I enjoy the cussing in them. When it done correctly its funny. But I can see where some parents get upset about it when the game looks like its for children but has a lot of foul language in it. Talk the game metal arms. I have played it and if it was not for the cussing that goes on any kid out there could play this game. Now the creator has every right to make the game he wants. But why can’t there be a version on the disk that cuts off the cussing. Just a little check box then its gone. I would not think that would be too hard to put in the games. Dvd movies could do the same. I know you have to record a different track but lets get real. It can be done and there is no real reason it shouldn’t happen. That way most games and movies can be played by most people. It would only increase the sales of the games and movies. I for one would have liked the game metal arms more if it didn’t have the cussing. I thought it didn’t belong in it personally. It looked to childish of a game. What do you guys think?
