Alright, I suppose I should actually have an intro thread on this board. So here's my former intro from the other one: I'm a Canadian, living in Southern Ontario, and taking my Master's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering. I was born into a family that is half-Jewish and half-Christian, and ended up neither. With a diverse family, though, growing up near the most diverse city in the world according to the UN (Toronto), I've picked up quite a bit about a wide variety of cultural and religious subjects. I take the lesson of the Holocaust in a universal perspective, and so spend time studying various religions and cultures to better understand them, in the hope of reducing prejudice. My political perspectives run to the left, and I'm a member of the NDP. (For the Americans, your Democrats are somewhere between our Progressive Conservatives and Liberals on the centre-right. You don't have a left wing yet, despite Ralph Nader's best efforts.) So you have some idea what to expect from me in political conversations. And yes, I can back my ideas up. I also have a passion for traditional drumming and cook a mean Jollof rice. ;D

Jollof rice is a West African dish. It's rice cooked with tomato, onion, hot peppers and (usually) meat. Very spicy and good.

Only if you want to cook. There are a lot of African recipes online (including a good one for Jollof rice) at The Congo Cookbook.
