Hey, this is Acriku speaking (probably a giveaway). I'm a Floridian and a proud atheist at the ripe (?!) age of 17, and have a love for science, specifically paleontology and astronomy, and math, specifically calculus. I became an atheist, or the time when I was able to admit to myself that I could no longer continue the charade about 4 years ago. I've been on the forums discussing atheism and theism for 2 years now, on atheistnetwork.net and iidb.org (et cetera), and love the back-and-forth discussions of beliefs. My favorite book collection is Dune, and the Dark Tower series is a work-in-progress , and love chess whenever I have time to play. I can say that I'm very lucky in many aspects, for starters my best friend is also an atheist, and another is halfway between. Also, my parents aren't that religious, so I've had the breathing room to explore my beliefs. I have yet to tell them I am an atheist, but I plan on it when I'm not a dependent anymore. I'm in Civil Air Patrol (C/TSgt for now), and plan to go into the USAF (hooah!). As a military geek, in accompany with my friends, I marvel at military technology (I am able to do this during the I/ITSEC convention here in Florida) and watch Mail Call on Discovery Channel as much as possible. Well, that's enough babble about me. I hope to get to know a lot of you guys here, as it seems much more friendly and civil in comparison to other forums I've been to (atheistnetwork.net rings a shivering bell). Kudos to Maverick for this great forum and website.

Welcome! It is nice to know more about you. How is the dark tower series? I've only seen the movies of Dune.

Hey Acriku. Welcome!
I love the Dark Tower series also ... I'm (im)patiently waiting for The Wolves of Calla to become available in paperback.
A military geek, eh? Well, I was a military brat ... my father was RCAF! (I though hooah was the Seal call to battle *shrugs* I guess I watch TOO much JAG ...)
Again, welcome. Good to see you are already posting in the forums.

Hello Acriku, good to have you on board! Hope you'll enjoy this forum as much as other ones you've been on. Paleontology is a great subject BTW, cool to hear you're into it.

Thanks for the welcomes everybody! nonbeliever, I'm a little weirded out by the series actually, but I'm trudging through it hoping that it'll stop being weird. And if you're liking the movie, the books go into way more depth into the 'dun'iverse and it's much more exciting. I suggest the first two books (I'm bored out of mind in the third one, but that may just be me). Auntie, glad to see you're into the Dark Tower series as well, but I have a question: does it stop being weird or does it stay that way? "Hooah" may be the incorrect spelling, but it sounds the same I guess. I saw those Mafia games, and didn't have time to look into it, but now I guess I will. Griffey, yes it is very cool. Somehow, Jurassic Park got me into it a long time ago, and I began to get more interested in it (not to make a Dino park ).

Auntie, glad to see you're into the Dark Tower series as well, but I have a question: does it stop being weird or does it stay that way? Oh no, it gets weirder still!!!! I watch way too much J.A.G. ... lol I hope you do. It is a lot of fun. I would sign up for the third game myself, if I had the time.
