I'm new here. Obviously.
For starters, I'm an atheist. For lack of a better description, as I never really put a great deal of thought into belief, as such, just knew that I saw theism in much the same way as I saw fantasy books and movies. They have a place, but in my opinion, they aren't the world, and I've never really been able to find it in myself to have faith, or see religion in general as anything but fictional.
I'm lucky with where I live, I suppose. 100 kilometres in any direction and I'd be, if not drowning, surrounded by people who take their faith pretty seriously. Where I live, there's a general apathy about if, for the most part. Most people here, in theory, believe in some monotheistic diety or another, though, thankfully, no one holds it against me for not doing so (apart from a couple of...memorable occasions during high school) and as long as no one gets it in their head that it's their god-given duty to convert/patronise/just generally annoy me, I usually don't get on too badly with religious types.
Anyway... I'm 17, I like to consider myself a writer, and I really hope I haven't said something stupid without noticing it yet... if I haven't, it's just a matter of time. So, sorry in advance.

LOL - welcome r8thir. No worries about saying something stupid ... we all do at one point or another.
Hope you enjoy our community. I see that you have already posted in another forum ... I haven't read your post yet though.
I'm glad to hear that you aren't feeling any overt pressure from the theists around you. Life can be complicated enough without adding continual attempts at indoctrination to the mix.
Out of curiosity - how did you come to know of us?

Welcome aboard, r8thir! Hope you'll continue to b involved here, it's a really great, open-minded forum. And as Auntie said, don't worry about saying something stupid...I know I've certainly made a faux-pas or two along my way. Anyhow, I look forward to seeing what else you have to contribute! ;D

Hey r8thir, it's nice meeting you. I never gave much thought to theism either and regarded religion as nothing but fictional. I still don't understand how people can believe in that stuff. Oh, well. The mafia game is a lot of fun. I just started a week ago, and its quite addicting. You should give it a try.
