I generally dislike these types of threads, so I have no idea why I'm doing this. So... I'm from Massachusetts and am an 18 year old freshman at UMass Lowell majoring in philosophy. I listen to metal, like SLAYER, The Crown, King Diamond, etc. I became an atheist 5 years ago and haven't looked back since. My best friend is a conservative catholic, but we're too close to let things like politics or religion get in the way of our friendship. I know the difference between "you're" and "your" and use them correctly, though my love affair with the comma tends to lengthen many sentences and complicate them beyond belief. I have insanely hilarious stories that I shall share when I deem all of thee worthy of my attention. If you "get" that last sentence then I think I'll like it hear.

To explain my usernamer: It comes from the song "Total Satan" by The Crown.
"Jehovah dictator we're not your slaves, This is for all those you've sent down to Hell! Say what? I'm damned? I don't care, 'cause I don't wanna get to heaven!"

"Total Satan" is off the album 'Deathrace King.' It's my favourite album, it's thrashier melodic Swedish Death metal. For more straightforward death metal, their albums are 'The Burning' and 'Eternal Death' with the 10-minute long song "Death of God." These two might be under Crown of Thorns if they are old copies, but were re-released under The Crown a year ago. Long and rambling is sometimes my middle name.

Welcome, jehovahdictator. Sorry for the brief welcome, I'm experiencing technical difficulties (in the form of a blasted cast on my wrist, but hey, that's my story, not yours!)
Punctuation needs to be loved too! I'm glad to see that the comma has the respect it deserves! However, being the equality punctuationist that I am, I try to spread the love between all of the worthy marks.
Please, do share some of your stories some time.

More about me (because I forgot to write it): Baseball is my favourite sport (Red Sox) and 'American Psycho' is my favourite book. And I like cats, which leads me to a question that isn't necessarily a thread-jacking attempt...Does anyone have a link to an H.P. Lovecraft essay called "Cats and Dogs" that opens in Internet Explorer? I can only find a version that requires some program I don't have. I Googled it and found nothing. The copy I got off the internet a while back was erased when my computer was formatted. See, I continued introducing myself without totally destroying the meaning of this thread. Thanks for the welcomes.

Welcome to the message board jehovahdictator. You're doing pretty well for someone who doesn't like welcome threads. "Cats and Dogs" by H.P. LovecraftI think it's great that you and your conservative Catholic friend can put religious/non-religious differences aside. I wish more people would adopt this approach. I look forward to seeing you jump into any of our threads here. If you need anything, (even links to essays by H.P. Lovecraft) let me know.

Holy crap, Maverick. I was expecting 3-4 posts saying "Sorry" or "Never heard of it." Instead, I get what I wanted. Much thanks. A question about board policy (but first an observation): I notice that some threads only five down from the top were last responded to in March. Question: Is posting in a thread from weeks ago frowned upon? Some boards I have been at like to keep it fresh, so this practice is unwelcome. I don't want to post an opinion on a topic that was last entertained weeks ago and find out I shouldn't have done it. I really want to post but am an unsure. Thanks.

Question: Is posting in a thread from weeks ago frowned upon? Some boards I have been at like to keep it fresh, so this practice is unwelcome. I think the basic atmoshere around here is ... if you have an opinion (that doesn't breach the rules of conduct) go ahead and post it. We have new members joining us daily. If there is something you would like to resurrect (pardon the seasonal pun), please do so. When I first started on the board (well, the old board), I was dragging things up from the next page (or older).
