My name is Chris and I am an Atheist. It has been 3967 days since my last communion.
1. At what age did you become an atheist? I never thought there could possibly be a god.
2. What flavor of religion were you indoctrinated to believe in prior to your deconversion? The United Church of Canada - as Pablum Protestant as they come.
3. What led you to eventually reject your religious beliefs? Common sense.

Welcome, crazy! Hope you enjoy the board.
And I happen to like the UCC, though as a social program organization. I volunteered in one of their food banks when I was younger, and it was all "business". The only religious thing about it was the location in their church. But I can see having issues with their actual services and such.

Welcome to the board, crazy ... Hmmm, another Canadian ... are we taking over?!?
I too like the UCC. I admire the way they have lead the fight for equality within religious organizations. They have a particularly good record with respect to homosexual rights (they allow homosexual ministers and were the first (possibly the only) church in Canada that has said they will allow homosexual marriages within their churches.) They strike me as a humanitarian group that happens to have Christian sermons on Sunday.

The ucc seems to be a interesting group i should look into it sometime today. The UCC (United Church of Canada) is a protestant religion, not to be confused with the UU (Unitarian Universalists) which is a non-denominational church (covering all religions and welcoming everyone, including atheists) Yes, I'm Canadian. I was born on a US Air Force Base (Goose Base had a US and Canadian side to it) because my mother worked for the US Gov't there and my father did joint operations with Canada and the US. Both my parents are Canadian though. (Technically, I should have been a dual citizen, but my mother didn't think it was necessary, travel and work between the two countries was freer in the 1970s.)

Welcome to the board crazy. Feel free to jump into the discussions. It has been 3967 days since my last communion. Almost 11 years? You're a veteran atheist by now! Again, welcome and let me know if you need anything.
