Sometimes I get really passionate about the things I say, and I really don't need to. Sometimes I worry that people won't like what I have to say, too. I guess I have a reason to, because I get disagreed with a lot. I just hope that a lot of people in here are disagreed with for some of the same reasons as I am.
I do criticize belief systems, and I think the reason I should be able to do this is the same reason other people should be able to adhere to one religion and not another. I generally criticize Christianity, because that's the belief I know the most about. I don't think it's really all that great to believe in weird gods other than Jesus, but I tend to forget about them. I'll do my best to criticize smaller religions more. It's just that they don't tend to show up at my doorstep or try to take over the United States government.
I wish I could say this is why I left the United States, but I can't. I moved to Canada (which at this time is nice and secular, but who knows what the future will bring) because I fell in love. I will soon have the honor of calling myself an ex-pat--another reason I get disagreed with a lot. I'm not a big fan of the religion of patriotism either.
I do like many things, and am generally an optimistic and happy person. I have reason to think the universe is a wonderful place, even if it is hostile and scary mostly. The earth holds indescribable beauty. There are so many adventures for me to have in this life, and I've enjoyed most of it, and feel there is value in some of my unenjoyable experiences. There is always so much to taste, that answering "what is the meaning of life?" just makes me laugh. If I answer by pouring you a cup of coffee and holding an orange leaf up to the light, that doesn't make me flaky and wishy-washy, because there are no ghosts, angels or gods in that leaf.
Thank you!
