Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Tyler, and I'm a long-time atheist and I found this site while researching a school project. And on that note: Here I am:

Are you coming onto me? I was researching "Religious Texts as Literature" for my AP Lang class, I wanted to show that all religions serve the same basic purpose and that they should not be taken at face value.

Theodore, I noticed you used the phrase 'hows it going'. Do people use that phrase a lot in the UK? Because as far as I know that mainly a South African saying. Do you have some connection to South Africa or south africans?
Probably I am wrong, and the english say it all the time.

I was trying to be an American ;D ;D We normally say things like Allright..or Allreet bonny lad(north east England) or How are you..or ok.. Although the youth of this country speak a totally different language to me. especially in the big cities

Welcome aboard, BangoSkank19. Hope you like the board & I look forward to reading more of your posts in the future. I'd also be interested in reading your reasearch paper when it's completed. Maybe you could post it here and open a discussion on the opinions you put forth. (Or perhaps Maverick would be interested in posting it on the A/Anon site as a guest paper *shrugs*)
I have to agree with Griffey, nice picture (I'm taken too, btw).

I'm taken, too for those of you wondering. Taken by a Christian, no less.
I don't want you to read my research paper, I'm not a non-fiction writer so I'm self-conscious about it. But any of my fiction is readily available if anyone wants to read that.

Sveet. You've got fiction out? I'd be quite interested in reading it. What genre do you write? Or are you a generalist?

Most of it would be considered horror, but to me its all about how oridinary people react to extraordinary circumstances. I've recently sent my first short story to an anthology in production and more than likely will be published into it. That story was about a petty criminal that picks the wrong night to hold up an out-of-the-way Exxon Station, finding out too late that the country is in the grip of a national emergency and a nice little ending that I really like, you can read that www.allthingszombie.com/fiction/kyle_ted.php . Keep in mind that this is the unrevised version, so its not as good as its current counterpart. Then I've got a large binder full of other stories, one is about a little kid trying his best to stand up to the monster in his closet, to beat it back only to have his parents let it creep back in. "There's no such thing as monsters," they say, and put that tiny bit of doubt in his mind, and thus the monster is back. Or one, my longest and one of my personal favorites, is about a kid that kills himself (I'm not thinking of killing myself as some people always seem to think, BTW) and then after the suicide he wakes up in a waiting room where his fate will be decided. He will either ride the Train Patricia to Heaven, or the Train Blaine to Hell (any Dark Tower fans out there?). Then it goes on to tell the story of how he reaches his ultimate resting place. Or one about a homeless man that lives everyday nearby this law firm, watching this same lawyer walk to and from work, and everyday have that man refuse to acknowledge him or let alone offer to help. Theres alot of social commentary in that one if anybody is smart enough to see it, most people get turned off on the seriousness of the issue considering that it is written in a humorous way from the perspective of the homeless man. Or then theres this story of an old man that finally has all things fall into place for him, he wants nothing more than to sit down and read, but this person keeps prank calling him, claiming to be an angel working in Heaven, working to tell him to get his affairs in order for his time is almost up. It ends with the phone being smashed and the man getting his peace and quiet, and a nice little twist ending that I really like. I'll post them for anyone that wants to read any of them.
