I'm from Manchester, England, and have been an atheist for the majority of my life. I'm keen to join in some of the discussions on this forum, but thought it would be polite to say hello here first. Also, I'd like to know if anyone else here is from the manchester area. Together with a few others, I'm trying to get a group together for regular meetings on atheism.
Sorry, not nearby, but have passed through a few times...
Welcome!!
I was a Christian for 35 years. During that time there was absolutely nothing that anyone could have said or done to turn me away from God. Nothing. I had to look away on my own. Faith is the perfect containment structure for a belief system. The keys are kept inside.
Thanks for your replies - I have seen the Manchester meetup group , and I've posted a message on the message board. It's not an active group, and I am trying to encourage a meet up. There is a humanist group in Manchester (i went to my first meeting last night) but I think new members are needed, so I am trying to get more atheists/brights/humanists involved. I hope to see you all around the forum.
