Hi everyone,
It has taken me a very long time to accept my position as a non-believer.
I attended church for 4 years and never believed, I just hoped that if I said the words over and over and did enough rituals, something would rub off on me and I would believe but all that happened was the list of questions I needed to ask grew and grew and instead of satisfactory answers in return, I seemed to be inundated with yet more questions ... questions that had no definable answers, questions that left me wanting.
I then moved away from christian to deist and then to pantheist and then to pagan and then to agnostic and then to the other 'A' word, a word that literally terrified me because I knew that when I finally uttered it, I would be (in effect) selaing my own demise, admitting the truth that the end is the end. I am an Atheist. It's good to be here.
All the best,
Jon.

Welcome to the board, Catlover.
Personally, I feel more at peace thinking that death is final and I will merely decompose ... it is much easier to swallow and accept (IMHO) than the concept of behaving as other wish of me or I will suffer an eternal torment.
I would say that, even as an Atheist, I have pagan leanings. Not in the sense that I believe in their god(desses) or their rituals, but I am somewhat drawn to them. I find their myths fascinating. Much more so than the bastard child borne of their religions and amalgomated with Hebrew myth to become what is now known as Christianity.
