I found this board while searching for something else entirely. I live in SE Idaho (no, not Iowa), in the heart of Mormon territory. I'm 56; have been a strong atheist for over 20 years. I've been online for probably 14 years, beginning with the old Prodigy internet service, back in the old Dark Ages of DOS. Greetings!

Hello and Welcome! For a minute I thought your name was Hank. ;D Long story, but it's a derivative of "Hercule" - as in Poirot.

Wow... The atheists in Idaho are all spread out when it comes to age. We have a 56 year old, I'm 22, and I think we have a seven year old or something Welcome to the board! -Dan

Welcome Herk. Are you from Belgium? I'm a great Agatha Christie reader.
We used to spend our summers in Idaho but the upper end. My family had a home at Priest Lake and another at Hayden Lake. I loved that deep, clean, cold water.
How did you manage to throw off the Mormons? My Grandfather was the Bishop in our town and I managed to get out from under around the age of 9!

Hello, Henk. I live in eastern Oregon but lived in Idaho since '92 and spent nearly every summer there as a kid. I lived in SW Idaho, and like you, I was (and am) surrounded by Mormons. Talk about judgemental ppl! Although I am not an atheist, I do believe in the basic human right that everyone has a right to believe or not. Isn't that the heart of being a free American? Good luck to you.

Hey, Metal Guru! Thanks for welcoming me to the mssg board. You look pretty cool. I miss the 1980's when Metal ruled the world. Has anybody here had LDS missionaries come to your door, possibly sent by a neighbor? How rude is that?

Has anybody here had LDS missionaries come to your door, possibly sent by a neighbor? How rude is that? Yeah, I miss the music of the 80's. My friend is turning 29 next weekend and his party is an 80's metal theme party...I guess I better go buy some hair spray and spandex to wear with the snakeskin boots. I haven't had any LDS missionaries come to my door. I did witness and interesting exchange between them and a drunken good ol' boy in a grocery store parking lot. Before I got in my car I could hear him screaming, "Shut the hell up before I shove my fist up yer keester!"

Thats just funny, I dont care who you are ;D It was even more hilarious to watch in person...this short guy around his middle 40's, a bit rough and grizzled, wearing an old dirty John Deer hat and one of those multi-colored, striped cowboy shirts and dirty blue jeans. He's staring these guys right in the eye and shaking his fist with determination as he was screaming that. The sheer volume of his voice pushed back the Mormon guys. The looks on their face was priceless.

Oh, that's too funny; wish I could have seen it. A long time ago, an LDS missionary saw me in my bra. Long story but I didn't know that my husband had let him in the house. I was in the middle of changing clothes and walked into the living room and this kid yells "OH!" and I yelled back "Oh, my God!!" I gave him an eyeful. Ha ha.
I'm 34 in June, graduated h.s. in '89, and miss the 1980's terribly. That was before everything went all politicaly correct. Wish I could be at the party with you guys. Have fun for me!
