They just wouldn't listen to the truth that was giving to them. Now tell me would you listen to some one who is sitting there telling you that you know nothing. Would you listen to some one who you thought were leading them away from what you belived to be the right path. Here is an example you are a priest a man comes to your cathedral dressed in wrags. This man tells you that you are not following doing the write things by God and that you have strayed from the path. This man says that the catholic church is wrong and that his way is the correct way. You would toss him out correct. Now this same man goes on national telelvision and starts denounceing the church and many begin to follow him. (ie straying from what you think is write) What would you do. Answer make a public display of him. Yes is this not true? Unless you are saying that you are perfect, then you would do the same thing. Do not judge lest ye be judged. leave out the dressed in rags part ,and you have the protestant reformation. and they tortured and burned them. do I judge them for it ? Yes ! judgement begins with the church, we are to keep our own house clean. would I judge those who crusified Jesus? No, He forgave them Himself, and it was all apart of Gods plan.

Jesus never denounced Judaism. The early Christians still went to the temple and worship with the other Jewish people. They even preached that Jesus was the messiah in the the temple.
