If you are referring to the concept of a tax on consumption rather than revenue then I believe it to be the most equitable available. People can control the spending of their money on items that are taxable. If they want to be taxed a great deal for an item they can buy an expensive one; if not then they can make more moderate purchase. Even if they tax food the burden is decreased because it is not required that you buy the most expensive product to eat. There is a reason this will not happen... power. The current tax code is a way to control elections and, no matter which party, they can use the changes in the taxes to make one claim or another to get themselves in office or the others out.
Hillary Clinton? Why and how did this woman become the hero of the feminist movement? She did not do it on her own, she did not do it with out a man, etc. She rode the coat-tails of her husband to fame and then cashed in on it to get herself into power and then office. She is the antithesis of a feminist icon. She is also a typical politician that talks out of both sides of her mouth. When Bush wouldn't do something (anything) she would claim he should; when bush would do that something then she would claim that he shouldn't. The is playing typical partisan games. She is no different than the rest. And let's not forget the "smartest woman in the world" couldn't remember a damn thing when the Whitewater investigation was taking place.
