Woo, been reading round your board for a bit. I assume you are mostly Americans (with a few Aussies?) As someone that went through the whole 'Do I believe?' bit as a kid/teenager/young adult before ending up as an agnostic (intellectual position) / atheist (emotional position) it scares and worries me that atheist Yanks need a support forum like this. Don't get me wrong, I like it on here, but America seems weird from over here in Britland. Of course we have our problems with fundies but there is no question of ever being given any grief for not believing in God, it's almost the other way round, most people are almost embarrassed to say they believe. And most of us p****d ourselves laughing when we heard that G W invaded Iraq because God told him to (before we thought about it a bit more and got scared and confused by him, again). Good luck, we need more like you.

Don't get too excited just yet, remember that Brits are calling for enforced daily TV limits and unfairly taxing 4x4 drivers just because they happen to be the rich echelon. Don't be too quick to point the finger.
You want more? How about wanting all under 25's to have limits to what engine-capacity cars they may drive, or fining people who don't register to vote, or joining the EU? Need I go on?

Buildmonkey thank you for your post. I am a bit saddened about the media and in general the religious treating people who are not religious as if they have leprosy. You can even see people feeling uncomfortable when they are talking to to you. I for one am going to a catholic colledge, and if someone askes about religion I say I am not religious. When they here this how ever you can see them shift from feeling comfortable to feeling almost ill.
The amount of people who will not even come near you if you are not christian is astounding. I have actualy met people who are so into their religion that they don't accnoledge the existence of any other. If I were to tell one of these people that I am not Christan I might as well be telling them that I am an alian.
How much would you say britan is athistic or agnostic?

They feel ill because you look content being non-religious, and being good natured they are glad to see happy people, but then must accept this happy person will go to hell and fry. No wonder they feel ill. It's not enough to change their minds, though.
