I dont think that if there were a God that he would care about beings that were made in his wake. I mean lets say that there is a God He would have moved beyond Mortal coils of feelings (this would include love and hate).

Now how would this God with no immotions love the human race. Also both Judaism and Christianity belive that God created man in his image. Now this cant be so because if a God even had an image. it would represent a limitation to the Gods power. And as we all know the Judaism and Christianitys God cannot have a limitation.

I can see where he does not care for us. Hell is not for punishment. Its for torture nothing more. And only a select few will get into heaven. Plus to do this we have to go against everything we are. He makes us one way and then makes us go against our programming. That is just a sick joke. What gets me is that most people fall for this. Because they don’t want to go to hell more than they want to go to heaven.

I know makes you sick dosnt it. Good thing is there is no God. However you bring up a good point. Why do people belive in God? I have actualy asked this question on this site and got really good feed back. Still I have my own answer (not sure if every one will agree but oh well) for this question.

Once some time ago I was at the hairs breath of going one way or the other. (that is beliveing in God or not) I became rather afraide at the idea of there being no God. I mean it took me several miniuts to really make my self look past this (I was after all Roman Catholic). I finaly came to the fact that there is no God. Once I had finaly set my heart into the idea and it sank in I felt over joyed.

I dont think that it is because they are afraid of hell that they belive in God (after all some people belive in God but not in hell). I think it is because they are afraid of the possiblilty. Lets face it it's not the most conforting thought when you first start out. They belive that it is all emptyness after one *cuts* out God. For my self this could not be farther from the truth. Lets face it in modern religion it is basicly blatent that this world means nothing. After all in the Roman Catholic bible it states that to be closer to God one should forsake this world. When I look at the world I see both a wonderful and a Horrific place but for all that it can be Horrific it can also be wonderful.(and yes this Makes me very very happy).

I was on the fence of believing and not believing a lot when I was young. My whole family believes in god. I went back and forth in high school a lot. I’m glad I tore myself away. But I would not wish that kind of internal torment on anyone. it is easier to be a Christian but not for me.
To me it makes my life full. I know this is it so I’m going to do everything I can to make me happy instead of waiting for another life to be happy. And I have heard this from some chritians. I would say to them that they seemed stressed and should slow down. They said to me that there is no need that they will be happy latter. I found that a scary thought.

Thank you Necroshine. However there is one point that I would like to adress. That point is that theology is the choice of the person, and true it is not polite to wish torment on some one it is very polite to the point of decency that people encourage other people to think. To wish a person to stay with their religon just so that they would not have to go though any personal torment is the same as telling a person who needs surgery that they should just stick with it instead of going though the painful surgery. So you see it is not thinking that will eventualy hurt the human race, but a lack of thinking that will lead to humanitys downfall.

On your other point that is very well put. It truely is scary isnt it that millions of people all are waiting for their next life instead of takeing care of the here and now.

Well if we are going to use the Christian and Jewish god as an example, then they beleive that this god is perfect so when he made man in his image man was perfect and so on. So I guess this god would like them becasue he was like his kids. Most people love there kids. So Christians would say that Love and Hate was always there becasue there God made them and He doesn't change so he never moved beyond love or hate. To christian and Jews God Never changes He is not Dynamic.

I aplogize for being vage. God made Adam and Eve and they were perfect. Sin was let on this earth by Adam and Eve eating from the tree of knowledge. When they did that they let sin and death in. Before they ate from the tree they didn't understand the when they were doing something wrong. When they ate the fruit the understood. Now everone understands when they are doing good or bad. So if someone chooses to do something bad they are sinning. So you are no more perfect than I am.

I like knowing right from wrong. why would god want a bunch of 40 year old babies? The adam and eve thing is just a story. Just like the rest of the bible.
And dragon. I was not saying that I hope people stay with god just not to go through what I went through. But I can fully see why people would rather stick with the belief of god rather than tearing themselves away from what they have always believed there whole life. I try to not tell people my stance in life unless it just comes up. I don’t like christens that do is so I’m not going to do it. but if it should come up in a conversation then I will defend myself.

I have to be true to my beliefs, which means I would have to talk to you about what I believe. The way I like to share my faith is in an inellengent conversation or debat where we both hear and understand each others sides. I give you my take on things you give me yours. I give a rebuttal and so on. (what this has to do with this topic is beyond me... I just talking)

Yours say you must tear about others so your god is pleased with you. You take someone and tell them that they are wrong. when you have no proof that you are right.
I will not do that. It’s a personal choice for everyone. If someone is 40 and I come along and tell them that god is not here and I give them nothing in return then I have not did them any good. But is someone is pointing out to me why god is here and being an ass about it then I will defend my stance.

I use to be a Christian but now I’m not. Never will again. I see many reasons why not to be a Christian, I can not see your way of thinking any more. To many contradictions and no answers.

Well I never mean to tear into anyone. I don't think that is the way to share my religon. I like to give people respect and I only hope that they will do the same.

All right for some proof. I am in college and I don't have money seriously. Still I manage to keep a apartment, feed myself, and pay for my school supplies which is 100 dollars a month. I don't have a job but I still manage to keep it all. I would say that it is nothing but god. My first year of college my money didn't come in until November when school was over but I wasn't stressed I knew that everyting was going to be ok and everything did. I have only a few credits left of school and I have to pay for my summer school. Do I don't how I am going to do it? no, but I know it will be paid. God has taken care of my finances all trought school and will continue to do so. That is one of my accounts.

You know guerrillasaint you lead me into a most splendid point. For this I thank you. You see this is exactly what I am speaking of. You belive that every thing is your Gods doing. I dont see how this is a nice thought but ok. I dont see how your finances are any of your Gods doing. I mean lets be reasonable what you would call an act of God I call a person understanding that you are a colledge student. You see if you will read what you wrote you will see that you have expressed no responsibility on your own actions or affairs. Instead you put faith in your God that he will give you all. You being a colledge student should understand that this is not how the world works. Please be practical at least and use your brain and not your faith to sort out your problems. I belive you might find that things go smoother if you do.
