I didn't ask you if you were perfect I asked you if you removed the other double standers in your life. It is either yes, no, or I am trying.
Jesus is my standard or what I want to be. So if I am not acting they way he would I need to correct something. Still, I don't see how that is a double standard.
I answered the question in the parameters that your gave me so don't take my words out of context. So if Alah was the true God then he has every right to put me in hell because I didn't believe and it wouldn't be like we could do anything about it anyway. So complaining that you don't deserve the situation wouldn't make it go away. No I was saying that people existed before they new how to write so we don't know for sure if that is the oldest religion we just know that it was written down before Judaism.

Since complaining won't change the situation, the best thing to do would be to believe, right? If you don't believe and it turns out to be true, you lose everything, but if you believe and it turns out to be false, you lose nothing. Atheism is certainly the least sensible thing.

Hello to You Necroshine. I would more than happy to share my beliefs. I would like to ask that you to respect me and my beliefs because no matter what you do I will respect you and your beliefs. If I cross that line please tell me because I will tell you. When I find that some part of my life is less than honest I try to correct it. Still, I have times of weakness and I may fall back into those same habits because it is safe. I also know that I have a lot of work to do and I continue to work on myself so that I may live honestly and with integrity. I try to look at myself in a truthful light and I am always criticizing myself and listen to the advice of those I trust. They usually see me for who I am before I see it. It help to have good people around because I know they are doing it out of love.
That is a hard question, but since I believe in God I pray and read the Bible and also look at the world around me and try to see it for what it is. I wouldn't say that it was easy to see the truth because I am trusting. Although my mistakes have taught me a lot and I would wish them away. God is a great teacher ( don't be offend you don't have to believe me I just telling you how I live my life)
The short answer is God. The long answer is that I have many standers. I live by respect, integrity, honesty knowledge, wisdom, love, trust.

Chico the Supernatural Chicken is an omnipotent, omnibenevolent God who lives in his heavenly chicken-coop. You can't rule out his existence...

To guerrilla saint About the double standard .. You say you want to be perfect. You want to be like jesus. You know for a fact that you can never be this way. No matter how much time and effort you put into being perfect you will never be. Wouldn’t you call someone trying to be perfect and know that they can not be a double standard. Now I’m not saying try to not to live a good life but it is a fact that we can not be perfect. For a god to make us flawed and then turn around and tell us we have to be perfect doesn’t sound like an all loving, all understanding god to me. Does it even make sense to you to try to be something you can not be? You can try to improve yourself. And I would suggest to be as good as you can. But why even say that you are going to try to be perfect? You might as well say you are going to try to be a tree.
And as far as the odds you are worshiping the correct god. If you can say that you deserve to go to hell if allha is the correct then this is where this conversation ends. You have your view on this part of religion which I can not agree on so I will agree to disagree with you. I just can not follow your line of logic on this subject. If you think this is a good way that a god should act how do you judge the peoples actions around you?

Dunamos
I also try to respect others around me and try not to put someone down for what they believe, but at the same time this is a discussion board. So sometimes a toe might get stepped on.
The first question you answered much like i would. Now what does that have to do with god? No one mention of god in that answer to the question. I have always said you don’t need god in your life to live a good life. You have to criticize yourself to a point. You have to listen to others. And have people around you that you trust. Plus you have to want to help people around you. Non of which require god. I don’t need god in my life to be a good person. But so many believers would want you to think that you do. It is not correct.
The 2nd question is where you come out with god and the like. You say it’s a hard question but the answer should go hand in hand with the first question. Wouldn’t you know that you are living a good honest life by the same standards as the first question? If you are good to others, help people out and try to not hurt other people. Wouldn’t you then know you are living as a good person? If there a difference if doing all that and being a good person? Or are you a good person for doing all the good things in life? You say that god is a good teacher. But the above question you state that people around you will let you know if you stray from your path. That sounds like you have some good friends and family members you can trust so you don’t have to wonder what a god might be thinking about you. If you are honest you don’t know what god is thinking and you don’t know if he is pleased with you or not. But you do know if your loved ones are.
And the 3rd question. This is again the same question just asked in a different way. And again you insert god here where he is not needed. You say that you live by respect integrity honesty knowledge wisdom love and trust. Do you need god to live that way? Or do you live that way because you want to? I hope you don’t do it just to try to stay out of hell.
Sounds like to me you live a better life than god is trying to do. He kills us off just because we do act like he wants us to. He says its ok for one guy to have more than another one. He says to harm yourself if you even think about doing something bad. He says to try to change people around you instead of trying to live in peace. Sounds to me your living better than that. I hope you continue to do so. I see you think you hold god above everything else but I hope you see where I’m coming from. You don’t need god to live a good life. You just need god to make other people think your going to heaven.
Oh my money is on chico the supernatural chicken. Or the invisible pink unicorn. Do a google search on the invisible pink unicorn.

yea i have see that and i love it. that is why i put it in my post above. i just didn't supply a link. why go through the trouble if someone isn 't going to look? more times than not they just half way read the post then pick out one part to reply to and to never look any farther than the post itself. i hope i am mistaken and Dunamos is looking at what we are telling them. and as far as guerrilla saint goes she has been around long enough to know what we are talking abut. i think guerrilla is leaning twords our way of thinking but just don't wnat to take the final step. they are not ready yet. but thnaks for the link maybe one of them will use it.

I looked at the Website and I thought it was funny. I also looked at Church of the SubGenius that was funny also.
Well a good lie has some truth in it. So I look towards God for my truth.
Are your motives to help others for the sake of helping them or for the sake of being seen as a good person? I believe the motive behind the action counts for more than the action. Still, there are limitations to what I just said because someone can mean well and still harm. So I guess that means that someone’s actions still amounts for something. To those who don't know why you did a good deed it may mean everything.
I believe that God has put people in my life to help me. I have also been in situations were there is no one to help me. I may have what my friends and family have taught me but sometimes it isn't enough. A few years back I was in a two-year funk were God showed me my limitations. At that point in time I began to understand why I needed to trust in God. I couldn't do what God had planned for me with out him.
I don't know what God is thinking all of the time. I know when he is displeased, and I know of a time when he was pleased. Nevertheless, I not going to spend the rest of my life guilt tripping myself with the times I displeased God because that isn't what he wants. It is a big waste of time because I know what I did wrong. So instead of dwelling on it I just need to do something about it. That is one of the reasons he sent down Jesus to die on the cross. So that we will not be constantly remembering all the little hiccups and big bad no no's we have committed during our life span.
I know my good life is a blessing from God.
if you are talking about the people in the Old Testament they were living with God. They could see him. If he allowed them to continue to act the way they were it would be like a poison to the rest of the Israelites. They were undermining his authority and he had to remove them because they were a cancer. Even though I know this I don't know all of God's motives but I trust that he has a reason.
When God gives someone more than another man he expects more for the one that was given more. And even though someone has more of something than another person doesn’t mean that God love one more than the other.
Are talking about the scripture that say it would be better for you to remove your eye if it causes you to sin than keep and go to hell. If that is so he was using a metaphor. He is tell you to remove whatever is casing you to sin because if you allow it to continue to influence you in a sinful way then you will go to hell.
He doesn’t say to change people because he know that no one will change unless they want to. If God ever told us to change someone then I would have the ability to change you right now, but you know I can't do that. I am just here to share my ideas with you. I want to know about you and why you believe the way you do. I don't expect to change your mind. I am just supposed to fish not catch men.
I am living better than you stated in your post, and all of it has to do with God. I know that you can live a good life without good and I am happy if you do. I hope your days on this earth are great. Still I don't want to live without my God. I also think that my life will be much more than good. I am about to get married and I have discussed some of the things I want out of life with my future spouse. I know that God will bless me to have everything I want, and more. When I die my life will be a testament of the Glory of God.
I need God. What other people think is up to them. They have no bearing on wither I go to heaven or hell. I not going to be worried about wither other people believe in heaven. Like I said I am here to discuss and put things out there.
Vertigo I believe in God because he talks to me. I have never had a discussion with Chico the Supernatural Chicken or The Invisible Pink Unicorn.
