First of all, get your facts straight, Hitler was a man of god. Second of all, you're assuming that atheists are incapable of caring for their fellow humans. This is not only wrong, it's absurd.

Hitler was most certainly not a "man of God". He was Catholic, but he was not a man of God. He was Catholic only in name. Please, do not confuse "man of God" with "sociopath".

PSMC, you are a borderline troll. Stop preaching your propaganda and start responding to what people say.
No. He realised now how easy it would be for a mason to carve something in stove, even in those days. He realised how dishonest it was for the priest to assert in the way he did that it was proof, that no man could do it.
It is the culmination of many other things. He is abandoning God because it doesn't make sense that a loving God would create the world we live in.

EvenThen, perhaps you would define 'Man of God' for us.

Sad to hear that because the possibility that a man carved into stone, you choose to completely abandon God. The Ten Commandments were desinged to "control the masses?" are you saying you would prefer an anarchy? Lol, love them fallacies don't ya... argumentum in terrorem. I don't know what "atheists" you have met, but I hardly think many here would jump at advocating social darwinism. That's the most blantant fallacy I've seen you utilize yet. This may even qualify in a couple of categories. However, aside from the logic aspect...this is extremely false...the biological theory of evolution is different from social darwinism, which itself is absurd. You know Hitler was Catholic right and believed he was saving Christians and doing god's work by eliminating the Jews, right? As to your claim that evolutionary theory abdicates eugenics, I must say that is simply and unequivocally ridiculous. www.talkorigins.org/indexcc/CA/CA002_1.htmlwww.talkorigins.org/indexcc/CA/CA006.htmlwww.talkorigins.org/indexcc/CA/CA006_1.htmlIt would be most advisable to take some time and educate yourself on the subject you attack. You obviously have a need to.

I apologize.
If you take away all of the nit picky details, we are all arguing the same thing.
I apologize for my attempt to sound intelligent, as im obviously much stupider than everyone else here.
In the end, we can all hope for one thing:that we are right. lol.
That is really what everyone fears in religion. What if, in the end, I was wrong? What if I am wrong, and convinced others to be wrong with me?
You all have taught me a very important lesson. From now on, I will listen without any agenda of my own in a religious or political debate.
When i came here, it was to better understand the theory of evolution. Instead of just coming out and asking the question i wanted the answer to, i resorted to attacking your beliefs, and i apologize.

I apologize. If you take away all of the nit picky details, we are all arguing the same thing. We are? Continue to learn, think critically on things...ask if they make sense and is there any substance to the claims people make. Do your own research, learning is its own reward. None of us "informed" people acquired this knowledge overnight...at least for me, it's been years of reading, taking classes, reading not only books but research journals and texts as well and keeping up with current data as it becomes available. Many people don't like to think of that aspect. It's the wisest course of action to be able to admit you are wrong in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. It's okay. Don't sweat it too much, this is a discussion board afterall. I just hope you were able to learn from the exchanges and can carry those skills with you.

if there was a god, he would be corrupt and insane. he would be trying to control our free will and our imperfections. chemicals in the brain determine whether a person is gay or straight, and depending on the conditioning of our brains would determine what frightens us, what disgustes us, and what pleases us, and so on. now if there was a god, he would not try to make us all perfect and punish those who have faults due to these conditionings. if there was a god, he would have created us perfect and we would all live in harmony.
and with adam and eve, he made them imperfect because they disobeyed him, if god was so perfect, why would his creation disobey him? none of the other creatues he supposedly created disobeyed him, just the humans.
if there was a god, he would have made humans so smart they would think and act for themselves, like some people today are worried about computers. some AI's can learn and think for themselves which is scary because they can take over the world. but you would think god would be smart enough (being how perfect he is) to create the perfect being that would obey him. unless he is a sick corrupted bastard that enjoys the suffering of others...
in point, we are here today, due to evolution. we obviously evolved from the ape family, our closest relative. and they obviously evolved from smaller monkies which would evolve from other animals... this happened over billions and billions of years. this is my theory to support the non-existance of god... and science has PROVEN evolution to be the creation of all living things. we just havnt figured out how live itself started... but we can use non-living elements to create bacteria... so my theory is that everything is floating around in dead space, and the big bang happened and things got spread out into galaxies, gasses grouped together and compressed to form suns and stars, and eventually into planets with gasses like vaporized h20 into water which supported life and shit like that.

EvenThen: you are a theist, you are here to try and convert atheists into believing YOUR beliefs... atheists are here to share with one another their theories on the non-existance of god and you are ruining this. learn to accept the beleifs of others (and as a christian you should know that already).... leave us with our thoughts and you may contribute to them, but please do not try and convert us... debating is nice... but you are going to far.

Once again, i lied. See how easily, even with all of your critical thought and analysis you are succeptible to being persuaded one way, when it is favorable to you. Amazing. Everyone else is the same way. No one is going to change their beliefs unless it presents a more favorable condition for themselves. For you, that is being able to do whatever you want without consequence, for me, it is following simple rules which lead to a better life on Earth. If everyone followed just one of the Ten Commandments, everyone on Earth, how much better would it be? Think about that before you decide that the Ten Commandments are simply man's attempt to "control the masses." Have you ever worked stone? I have. A stone axe head made from greenstone can take up to a year or more to peck and grind into shape. Now, to chisel the Ten Commandmewnts into stone would likely take as long. Why would a man do this? Spend years carving into stone so he could make up lies about God so that people would listen to him? Why would he carve the rules for a utopian society? Why not carve "Give all of your money to Moses?" or "No woman shalt sleepeth with any man but the bearer of the Ten Commandments?" Use the critical analysis you all are so fond of to think a little bit before you jump to conclusions.
