i see this going no where... atheists say the commandments were made up so ppl have something to believe in, theists say god made these rules for us to follow a sin free life... so lets all put our hands in the air and do the happy dance cause we will debate this crap till we are all dead...
no do you ppl honestly care about the afterlife? why spend your time on a forum debating about religion? why dont we just believe what we want to believe and if we think its the right decision and its the best for humanity, just do it yourself and you will prosper.
why waste your life debating about religion, when you can be out having fun (even if your a computer nerd) why spend your time on a forum when you can be creating something... something for everyone in the world to OOO and AHHH over?
i realized this is just a waste of time so i dont think imma come back to these boards. have fun wasting your lives.

I think that the ten commandments are a good example of a way to have your morals, however, I think the first four don't really apply to atheists.

Wrong. My mom is special! That's a sweet thing to say, Hilly ... if I said something like that, she'd immediately ask, "Ok, what is it you want?" She's such a skeptic, except when it comes to her faith. Of well, there is hope for her yet. I let her read the most recent issue of Free Inquiry and she now understands why I am so concerned about theocracies.

Let me clarify: Souless Demon, you speak with the maturity of a 12 year old girl.

I've not heard of Free Inquiry, Is it available other than from subscription? I agree with you about theocracies. I wonder, [Not to highjack this thread] is the USA becoming one?

It is the magazine of the Centre for Inquiry (secular Humanists). A great read! I would say it is dangerously close. With the faith-based initiatives (and only Christian ones getting funding), the vast amount of litigation against obvious church-state infringements ... and a president who gets war counsel from his deity....

Aren't young girls more rebellious? I'm still rebellious! Actually, I thought that girls matured more quickly than their male counterparts (or, that was my experience). I also see this with my 6-y/o niece in comparison with young boys in her peer-group. This is just a speculation, but when you consider that a 12-y/o girl is physically capable of being a mother, wouldn't it stand to reason that some of the mothering/nesting characteristics are starting to set in?
