No one gave me an answer to who said this, "I have spent the best years of my life giving people the lighter pleasures, helping them have a good time, and all I get is abuse, the existence of a hunted man." Al Capone.

Yep, that's right. Al Capone thought he was a pretty good guy. My next question for anyone who wishes to answer is, "do you consider yourself to be a good person?"
If so, I have a good person test for you.

If so, I have a good person test for you. I would suppose I'm a fairly decent guy, not perfect...I have my faults just as everyone else. However, it would depend upon what baseline you are judging "good" by.

My answer would probably mirror squid's quite a bit. I generally think that I am pretty good. However, I can't be really certain how I would act in very extreme cases. I would like to think that I would act honorably even when the pressure is on to sell out. Generally I do. But it's a constant test.

Here's part 1 of the test- Have you ever told a lie?
Have you ever taken ANYTHING that didn't belong to you?
Have you ever hated anyone?
Part 2 after these answers

justn7 Yes. justn7 I have downloaded songs from the likes of Napster. I'll say that this qualifies. justn7 Sure, there are/were probably people who existed that I don't think are worth much. That has more to do with what the person in question did rather than what they were.

Here's part 1 of the test- Have you ever told a lie? Yes. Yes. Does taking things no one else wanted count? Hate is a very strong term. I can't think of anyone I've ever hated. I've disliked many people but I wouldn't go so far to say I hate them.

Ok, I appreciate the honesty. If you haven't guessed yet, I'm going through the 10 Commandments in no particular order. Question #3 was 'have you ever hated anyone'. Jesus said that whoever hates someone without cause is in danger of judgement - the example he uses is calling someone 'Raca' (a fool). He says it is the same as murder because God looks at a man's heart.
Here's part 2:
Have you ever looked at a woman and had a sexual thought about her you wouldn't want her to know about?
Have you ever used God's name as a swear word?
Have you ever been envious of something someone else had?

Have you ever looked at a woman and had a sexual thought about her you wouldn't want her to know about? Nope, I wouldn't mind if they knew. Yep. Of course, I wish I had a mansion with jets parked out front like Travolta.

Are you going to discuss the existence of god or human behavior?
First, you define your god. Go ahead I dare you. Narrow it down. For the rest of the world. I am tired of your presumptious bull shit even this early in the disscusion. When you come here and try to tell us what our belief's are, ie are there any "actual atheists here"? and then you have the audacity to question whether atheists are good people or not, as in your stupid "good people test" well I say fuck you and your condescending christian propaganda.

justn7 Sure. But I have quite a few thoughts that I think people probably shouldn't know about. It's more for their protection than mine.
justn7[/b What's god and what is its name? I have used the word 'god' in a curse before.
justn7 Sure.

I'm glad someone brought that up, god is more of a defining title isn't it? Not a name. People don't name their dog "dog"....okay, well maybe some would. But people wouldn't name their child "child".

The question about God's name is good. To Hilly, when I came in I was trying to attract people into an intelligent conversation. I simply asked questions about your beliefs, and am not questioning whether or not ATHEISTS are good people. I'm asking whether YOU consider YOURSELF to be a good person. I ask that question of lots of people regardless of their belief system. I am trying to be as reasonable and non-judgmental as possible while sharing my faith with you.
I am sharing with you guys what the Bible says, and without getting into the doctrine of the Trinity, etc., lets refer to the God of the Bible as Jesus Christ.
Ok, according to God's standard, you have admitted to me that you are liars, thieves, adulterers, murderers, blasphemers and coveters. That covers 6 of the 10.
Hebrews 9:27 says that, "it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" So you are going to die - everybody dies - and then you will stand before God and He will judge you for every thought, word and deed.
Do you think that God will find you innocent or guilty of breaking His commandments?

Ask the same questions in your local church. I promise you'll get the same answers. If you don't then they are lying. I am a Christian and I answered yes to each question. I don't think that answering yes to those questions means that people are bad, I think it means that people are people, rather they are athiests or christians, we are just people.

Also, as Christians we must be very careful because it also states in the Bible that when we stand in judgement, we are then just as guilty as those that commit the sin. I'm not saying that you are being judgemental, but it is a very thin line, one I'm afraid a lot of people forget.
